Sri Adi Shankara's 60-feet Statue at Kanchipuram
This 60 feet statue in Enathur, near Kanchipuram, is the largest statue of Sri Adi Shankara in the world. This
statue was inaugurated in the benign presence of Their Holinesses Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya
Swamiji and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji by the King of Nepal. Right behind the
statue is an International Library that contains a large and rare collection of historic manuscripts, collected from
various parts of the country during the Vijaya Yatras performed by Their Holinesses to various parts of the country.
Efforts are being made to preserve the manuscripts in their original form, as also in electronic form through
digitization.
Every year, visesha pujas are performed on the occasion of Sri Shankara Jayanti on Vaisaka Shukla Panchami. The statue is a source of inspiration for all the scholars and students who pursue their education in this unique Deemed University that imparts Indian culture & heritage related knowledge, along with contemporary education.
